Bass Fretboard Diagram

Here is a diagram of the different notes on the bass guitar fretboard (a.k.a. fret board). Be kind, I threw it together in 20 minutes this morning.

Basically, I used the perspective of me sitting in front of you, playing the bass. That’s why it may appear to be flipped.

The E A D G on the far left represent the open strings, and every step up, until the 6th fret, is labeled. You probably have already recognized the fact that once you start playing the 5th fret or higher, you start to get the same note as the string above.

This chart is a good way for you to visualize octaves as well.
